The Monkey and the Crocodile.

This is a narrative from the Panchatantra.

A monkey resided on the riverbank in a berry tree. He once noticed a crocodile under a tree that appeared hungry and exhausted. The monkey fed the crocodile some berries, and the crocodile wished thank you to the monkey and became one of his pals. Every day, the monkey fed the crocodile fruit. One day, the monkey even offered the crocodile additional berries to go to his wife.

His wife relished the berries but told her husband she wanted to eat the monkey's heart. She was a cruel and devious woman. The crocodile was upset, but he knew that he had to make his wife happy. The next day, the crocodile approached the monkey and told him that his wife had summoned him for dinner. The crocodile took the monkey on his back over the river. He told this monkey about his wife's scheme.

If the monkey wanted to save himself, he needed to think quickly. He told the crocodile that he had left his heart on the berry tree and that they needed to return. When he arrived, the monkey climbed the tree and talked. "I'm not going down; as you betrayed my trust on you, and that means our friendship is over or no more."
