Types of Rocks
|
The students come to know the way different rocks are formed. |
What is Rock?
Ans:-The different materials that the earth’s crust is composed of are
all called rocks. Rocks can be hard like granite and soft like sand and clay.
Rocks are formed in different ways. According to their way of formation they
are of 3 types. They are as follows:- a) Igneous Rocks. b) Sedimentary Rocks. c) Meromorphic Rocks. |
Students listen carefully and note down the points from the blackboard. |
The students
understand about the formation of rocks. |
a) Igneous Rocks:- The core of the earth has hot melted matter called magma. At times this
magma rises to the surface and erupts as a volcano. The melted lava herders
when it comes in contact with the atmosphere. Rocks thus formed are called
igneous or volcanic Rocks. |
Students listen carefully and note down the points from the blackboard. |
||||
b) Sedimentary Rocks:- Sedimentary rocks are made particles from different places. When fragments
are transported by different exogeneous agencies and deposited. This deposits
through compaction turned into rocks. |
Students listen carefully and note down the points from the blackboard. |
||||
c) Meromorphic
Rocks:- The rocks forms under the action of pressure, volume and temperature
changes. This is a consolidated rocks undergoes through recrystallisation and
recognition of materials within original rocks. |
Students listen carefully and note down the points from the blackboard. |
||||
Types of Igneous Rocks. |
To enable
students the skill of identifying different types of rocks. |
1) Internal Igneous
Rocks:- When the magma rises is not able to reach the surface of the Earth and
instead cools and herders inside, it is called internal igneous rock. Depending
on its shape as it herders it is called by different names. In the form of a
pillar it is called a dyke. Example:- Granite. |
Students listen carefully and note down the points from the blackboard. |
The students
are able to apply the gained knowledge to recall and recognize the different
types of rocks. |
|
2) External Igneous
Rocks:- When the magma reaches the earth’s surface and hardens, either through a
fissure or a volcanic eruption it form the external igneous rocks. Example:- obsidian and basalt. |
Students listen carefully and note down the points from the blackboard. |

completed of the specific class the teacher will also ask the students some
questions to justify the learning process is effective. And also give some
home work to the students to practise at home. Recall-
1) What is igneous Rock ? 2) What is rock ?
After getting the answer
teacher write some question for, Home work-
1) Define igneous rock and its types? 2) what is rock define its types?
At last as the time
passes the teacher will rub the black board clearly. Collect all the T.L.M.
including book, Charts which bring to the class by him thanking the students
with smiley face. |
Students will listen to the
teachers direction to the next.
Students will give the answer to the
questions standing from their seat.
Students will
Note down the questions given as Home work to their copy.
