Need for food.

 

To enable students about the food we take.

Food, substance consists essentially of proteins, carbohydrate, fat, and other nutrients used in the body of an organism to sustain growth and vital processes and to furnish energy.

Need of food:-

To keep our body healthy and strong we need food. Also we have to follow the following process.

1) Always take balanced diet.

2) Daily have to exercise, rest and sleep in a schedule time.

3) Maintain hygiene of your body.

4) Use medicines to get ride of illness.

What do different food items contains

 

 To enable students about the contents of food.

We know dishes usually made up of one or more immigrants. Which we get from plants or animals. These ingredients contain some components that are needed by our body. These components ate called nutrients.

The major nutrients are:

1) Carbohydrates,

2) Proteins,

3) Fats,

4) Vitamins,

5) Minerals.

The knowledge of the maps helps the students understanding the map of any location.

1) Carbohydrates :–

These are energy giving nutrients. It is found in our food in the form of glucose, starch and sugar. Our body produces energy by burning carbohydrates. Also carbohydrates are the main source of energy in our body.

Example:-

Paddy, potato, sugarcane, papaya, watermelon, corn, rice.

2) Protein :-

These are body building nutrients. It helps in cell building and other organs construction and growing, also helps in skin, nerve and bone bonding. Source of protein is from plant and animals.

Example:-

Plant protein- pulse, beans, soyabeans.

Animals protein- meat, fish, paneer, egg.

3) Fats :-

These are also energy giving nutrients. It provides more energy then carbohydrates. But the energy does not get directly like carbohydrates. It helps in temperature controlling. Too much fat is injurious to us. Also creates heart disease.

Example:-

Oils from plants, Ghee, creams.

4) Vitamins:-

These are protective foods. The types of vitamins are-

Vitamin A, C, D, E, K also B-complex.

5) Minerals:-

These are protective foods. Our body needs very small amounts of minerals. To maintain our health and growth we need basically these three types of minerals. Iodine, Phosphorous, Calcium.

Example:- Fish, carrot, milk, banana.

Functions of vitamins in our body.

 

The students will be able to recall their knowledge about Functions of vitamins in our body.

Vitamin-A:-

In the deficiency the eyesight becomes weak.

Symptoms:-

Weak eyesight, night blindness, sometimes total blindness.

Vitamin-C:-

In the deficiency illness is ‘Scurvy’.

Symptoms:-

Bleeding gums.

Wounds take longer time to heal.

Vitamin-D:-

In the deficiency illness is ‘Rickets’.

Symptoms:-

Bones becomes soft and bent.

Vitamin-E:-

In the deficiency illness may cause impaired reflexes and coordination, difficulty walking, and weak muscles.

Vitamin-K:-

In the deficiency illness is significant bleeding, poor bone development, osteoporosis, and increased cardiovascular disease.

Roughage

 

To enable students about Roughage.

Roughage:-

Besides the nutrients our body needs the fibres and water. The fibre types foods are called ‘Roughage’. It helps to exit of indigestive parts of our food from our body.

The understanding of the map allows the students to gain in-depth knowledge of the geography of a specified location.
